waterpik / otoclear system - questions / answers |
|
|
Question:
How can OtoClear eliminate the risk of damage to the eardrum?
Answer:
The OtoClear Tip is designed in such a way that the irrigating fluid
will not directly impact the eardrum.
At the tip, there are three holes, which direct the fluid towards
the ear canal walls, virtually eliminating the
risk of damage to the eardrum.
Question:
Does the OtoClear Tip occlude the ear canal?
Answer:
The OtoClear Tip has special exit portals through which effluent is
discharged from the ear canal. This prevents
potential build-up pressure in the ear canal, which could cause
damage and/or pain.
Question:
Why is the OtoClear Irrigation Tip less messy in operation?
Answer:
The exit portals of the OtoClear Tip are designed to direct drainage
into the basin, reducing clean up time.
This design also eliminates the splash back onto the operator.
Question:
Is there any chance of puncturing the eardrum by using the OtoClear
Tip?
Answer:
The special flared design of the OtoClear tip ensures that the tip
cannot be over-inserted in the ear.
Question:
Is the OtoClear Irrigation Tip suitable for all patients?
Answer:
The OtoClear Irrigation Tip can be used on patients of all ages.
However, in general, ear irrigation including
OtoClear Irrigation Tip, is contraindicated for patients whose ear
drum may be perforated, where
tympanostomy
tubes are present or suspected, or active infection is
present or suspected.
